Shanbe

Shanbe is the Persian term for Saturday, the sixth day of the week in the Iranian and Persian-speaking calendars. The word is written in Persian as شنبه and is widely used in Iran, Afghanistan, and among Persian-speaking communities abroad.

In Persian, days of the week are often formed by adding the word Shanbe to a numeral: Yekshanbeh (Sunday), Do-shanbeh (Monday), Seh-shanbeh (Tuesday), Chahar-shanbeh (Wednesday), Panjshanbeh (Thursday). The basic form Shanbe denotes Saturday, while Friday is usually referred to as Jomeh or Jum’a. This system is used in everyday language, calendars, and media within Persian-speaking regions.

Shanbe appears in various constructive and cultural contexts, including dates on calendars, scheduling, and traditional expressions found in literature and conversation.
