While their first appearance was in an animated webcast, the Shalka were later mentioned in the revived television series. In the 2008 episode "The Poison Sky," the Tenth Doctor briefly refers to them as an alien race he has encountered. This mention suggests a potential connection or a wider presence of the Shalka within the Doctor Who universe, though no further canonical appearances have been made to date. The species remains a relatively unexplored element of the Doctor Who lore.
