Septi

Septi is a term that may appear in different contexts, but there is no single, widely recognized definition in English. In most uses, it is not treated as an independent word, and when it appears, it is usually tied to other forms such as septum or septa, or it is encountered as a Latin grammatical form.

In medical and anatomical terminology, the related nouns septum (plural septa) refer to walls dividing cavities, such as the nasal septum or the atrial septum. The form septi is the genitive singular of septum in Latin; it rarely functions as an English term by itself.

Outside anatomy, septi may occur as a prefix or combining form in compounds that derive from Latin or Greek, but the more common English spellings are sept- or septa. The use of septi as a standalone stem is not typical.

Septi also can be a proper noun: it may be a surname or place name in some languages, or an acronym for organizations, though such uses are not widely documented in general references.
