Seouls

Seouls is not a standard name for a city. The capital of South Korea is Seoul. Some writers or editors may use Seouls as a plural form or by error; such usage is uncommon and not typically found in authoritative references.

Seoul is located in the northwest part of South Korea, on the Han River. The city covers about 605 square kilometers and forms the center of the Seoul National Capital Area. As of the early 2020s, the city proper has a population near 9.7 million, while the metropolitan area exceeds 25 million people.

Seoul has a long history as the seat of dynastic rule since the Joseon dynasty; it became the capital in 1394. It underwent rapid modernization in the late 20th century and has since developed into a global financial and cultural hub. The city hosted the 1988 Summer Olympics and has continued to invest in technology, infrastructure, and urban renewal.

The economy centers on services, high-tech manufacturing, and finance. Major districts include Gangnam, known for business and entertainment, Jongno for government and traditional culture, and Mapo for media and tech startups. The city hosts numerous headquarters, research centers, and a dense network of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Seoul features a mix of palaces, temples, markets, and modern architecture. Notable sites include Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and N Seoul Tower. It has an extensive transit system with a 20-line subway network, and two international airports nearby—Incheon and Gimpo—connecting the city to the world.
