Sentímetrar is a proposed, though not widely adopted, unit of length. The term is a portmanteau of "sentimeter," a colloquial and informal shortening of centimeter, and "meter." It has been suggested as a unit that would represent one hundredth of a meter, effectively making it synonymous with the centimeter. The rationale behind its proposal often stems from a desire for a more phonetic or intuitive name, particularly in informal contexts or among those less familiar with standard metric prefixes. However, the established system of prefixes, such as "centi-", is well-defined and universally understood within the scientific and general communities. The International System of Units (SI) officially recognizes the centimeter as 0.01 meters and does not include "sentímetrar" as a standard unit.
