Semti
Semti refers to a traditional Ottoman and Turkish concept of urban neighborhood or district. Historically, these were self-governing entities within larger cities, often defined by religious or ethnic identity, or by a specific trade or craft. Each semt had its own mosque, market, school, and other communal facilities, fostering a strong sense of local identity and social cohesion.
