Semiotikat is a theoretical framework devoted to the study of signs and meaning-making across social and cultural contexts. It treats signs as dynamic elements that circulate through language, media, objects, and practices, shaping how people understand the world. The term is used by scholars who seek to integrate traditional semiotics with contemporary analytical tools, including cognitive theories and digital analysis, to account for how meaning emerges in complex information environments.

Origin and relation to semiotics: While traditional semiotics analyzes sign systems such as language and visual signs, semiotikat expands this focus to digital interactions, branding, user interfaces, and everyday rhetoric. It draws on the work of Peirce, Saussure, and later semioticians, but emphasizes process, circulation, and mediation.

Core concepts: Signs, sign systems, codes, interpretants, denotation, connotation, and context. It investigates how meaning is produced through practices, power relations, and technological mediation. It also considers affordances, user agency, and multimodality.
