Sementtilaasteeksi

Sementtilaasteeksi, also known as cement kiln dust (CKD), is a by-product of the cement manufacturing process. It is primarily composed of fine particles of unburned fuel ash, clinker, and other impurities that are collected from the kiln exhaust gases. The term "sementtilaasteeksi" is derived from the Finnish words "sementti," meaning cement, and "laaste," meaning waste or by-product.

The production of cement involves the high-temperature calcination of limestone, clay, and other materials in a kiln. During this process, a significant amount of heat is generated, which is typically supplied by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil, or natural gas. The combustion of these fuels results in the emission of various pollutants, including particulate matter, which is captured and collected as CKD.

These properties make it a valuable material for various applications, including as a pozzolanic additive in concrete and mortar, a binder in soil stabilization, and a component in the production of other cementitious materials.
