Selfpriming
Self-priming refers to the ability of certain pumps or devices to evacuate air from the suction line and fill it with liquid without requiring manual priming by the operator. The term is most commonly applied to centrifugal pumps but also extends to other pumping and vacuum systems that are designed to restore prime automatically after startup or minor air leaks.

Performance and limitations depend on factors such as ambient pressure, liquid vapor pressure, fluid viscosity, and
Applications include irrigation, drainage, water transfer, construction dewatering, and portable pumps where manual priming is impractical.
