Sekundaarikäämessä

Sekundaarikäämessä, a Finnish term, translates to "secondary winding" in English and refers to the winding of a transformer that is connected to the load. This winding is distinct from the primary winding, which is connected to the power source. The number of turns in the secondary winding relative to the primary winding determines whether the transformer steps up or steps down the voltage.

In a step-up transformer, the secondary winding has more turns than the primary winding, resulting in a higher output voltage. Conversely, in a step-down transformer, the secondary winding has fewer turns, leading to a lower output voltage. The core principle governing this voltage transformation is electromagnetic induction. When an alternating current flows through the primary winding, it creates a fluctuating magnetic field in the transformer's core. This changing magnetic field then induces a voltage in the secondary winding.

The impedance seen by the primary winding is affected by the impedance of the load connected to the secondary winding and the turns ratio between the two windings. This impedance matching capability is a crucial aspect of transformer design, allowing for efficient power transfer between circuits with different impedance levels. Secondary windings are essential components in a vast array of electrical and electronic devices, including power supplies, voltage regulators, and audio equipment.
