Sekou
Sekou is a masculine given name of West African origin, most common among Mandé-speaking communities in Guinea, Mali, Senegal and surrounding areas. The spelling Sékou is common in Francophone Africa, with variants such as Seku. While the exact etymology is uncertain, the name is widely used in West Africa and has become associated with African independence and post-colonial leadership through prominent bearers.
