Securehandshake is a term that generally refers to a cryptographic protocol designed to establish a secure and authenticated connection between two parties. This process is fundamental to many internet security applications, most notably in securing web traffic through protocols like TLS/SSL. The core objective of a secure handshake is to ensure that both parties involved are who they claim to be and that the communication channel established will be protected from eavesdropping and tampering.

During a typical secure handshake, several steps occur. First, the client and server exchange information to negotiate the cryptographic algorithms and parameters that will be used for the session. This includes agreeing on encryption methods, hashing algorithms, and key exchange mechanisms. Following this negotiation, the server usually presents its digital certificate to the client. The client then verifies this certificate, typically by checking its validity and its issuer's trust. If the certificate is deemed trustworthy, the client and server proceed to generate and exchange session keys, which are used for encrypting and decrypting the actual data transmitted during the communication. This entire process ensures that the subsequent data exchange is confidential and that the parties involved can be confident in the integrity of the connection.
