Secmediated refers to a biological process involving the sec machinery, a fundamental protein translocation system found in all domains of life. This system is responsible for transporting proteins across or into cellular membranes, a crucial step for the proper functioning and localization of many proteins. The sec machinery is a conserved complex of proteins that facilitates the movement of nascent polypeptide chains from the cytoplasm to the extracellular space, the endoplasmic reticulum, or other cellular compartments.
