Scrobiculare

The shells are often a pale color, ranging from white to shades of grey or brown, and can exhibit subtle color patterns. The anterior end of the shell is usually rounded, while the posterior end tapers to a point.

These bivalves are infaunal, meaning they live burrowed in the sediment of marine environments. They are commonly found in sandy or muddy substrates in intertidal zones and shallow subtidal areas. Scrobiculare species are filter feeders, using their siphons to draw in water and extract plankton and other organic matter. Their distribution is widespread, with various species found in temperate and tropical waters around the world.

A notable species within this genus is Scrobiculare plana, commonly known as the common scrob or purple carpet shell.
