In statistics, a score interval, also known as a confidence interval, is a range of values that is likely to contain a population parameter. It is calculated from sample data and provides a measure of the uncertainty associated with estimating the parameter. For example, a 95% confidence interval for the mean height of adult males might be 175 cm to 180 cm. This means that if we were to repeatedly take samples and calculate confidence intervals, 95% of those intervals would contain the true average height of all adult males. The width of the interval reflects the precision of the estimate; a narrower interval indicates a more precise estimate.

In music, "score interval" can refer to the distance between two musical notes. This distance is typically measured in semitones or scale steps. Common intervals include the unison (no distance), major second, minor third, perfect fourth, and octave. The specific quality of an interval (e.g., major or minor) is determined by the number of semitones.
