Schwefelquellen
Schwefelquellen, also known as sulfur springs, are natural springs that contain significant concentrations of dissolved sulfur compounds, most notably hydrogen sulfide (H2S). These springs are often characterized by a distinct rotten egg smell due to the presence of hydrogen sulfide gas. The sulfur compounds can originate from various geological processes, including the decomposition of organic matter by sulfur-reducing bacteria or the dissolution of sulfur-bearing minerals in underground rock formations.
The water from schwefelquellen can vary in temperature, with some being cold springs and others being hot
The presence of sulfur can also influence the local ecosystem. Certain microorganisms thrive in these sulfur-rich
