Schussfadenführung

Schussfadenführung refers to the path the weft yarn takes as it is inserted into the shed of a woven fabric. This path is critical for the integrity and appearance of the textile. In plain weaving, the weft yarn passes over one warp thread and under the next in a simple, alternating pattern. This creates a stable fabric structure. For more complex weaves, such as twills or satins, the schussfadenführung follows a more intricate interlacing pattern, which is determined by the weave draft.

The method of schussfadenführung is directly influenced by the type of weaving machine or loom being used. In handweaving, the weaver manually passes the weft yarn using a shuttle or rapier.
