Schiers

Schiers is a municipality in the district of Prättigau/Davos in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. It is located in the Prättigau valley, at the confluence of the Landquart and the Schiersbach rivers. The village is situated at an elevation of 638 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains, including the Schiesshorn and the Hochwang.

The history of Schiers dates back to the 13th century, with the first documented mention in 1251. It was historically an important center for agriculture and forestry. The construction of the Rhaetian Railway in the early 20th century significantly boosted the region's development. Schiers is known for its educational institutions, most notably the famous Schiers private boarding school, founded in 1891.
