The process involves a user terminal, typically a satellite dish and modem, which communicates with a geostationary or low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite. The satellite then relays the data to a ground station, which is connected to the wider internet. When a user requests information, the signal travels from their terminal to the satellite, down to the ground station, across the internet, back to the ground station, up to the satellite, and finally to the user's terminal.
