Santykiuose

Santykiai is Lithuania’s term for relationships or relations between people, groups, organizations, or states. Santykiuose is the locative plural form of santykiai, used to express “in relations” or “in a state of relations.” It is a functional form in which one can describe location or status within a network of ties, not a standalone lexical entry for everyday use.

In practical language, santykiuose appears in contexts such as interpersonal life, diplomacy, and social or organizational dynamics. It can denote being in a relationship (būti santykiuose su partneriu) or the presence of ties between actors (tarptautiniai santykiai, socialiniai santykiai). The term covers intimate relationships as well as professional, political, or cultural connections, and it is common in both formal discourse and media reporting.

Grammatically, santykiuose is used with verbs or prepositional phrases that describe relational states. It often accompanies prepositions such as su (with) to specify the related party, for example, “santykiuose su kaimynu” or “santykiuose tarp šalių.” While santykiai as a plural noun is more typical in nominative contexts, santykiuose serves to situate the discussion within a framework of ongoing connections or interactions.
