Samtímar is a traditional Icelandic system of timekeeping that has been in use since the late 19th century. It is based on the solar year and is divided into 12 months, each with a specific name and length. The months are not of equal length, with some months being longer than others. The system is unique to Iceland and is not used in any other country.
