Sammudeni

Sammudeni refers to a coastal ethnolinguistic community located in the archipelago and mainland coast of the region known as the Deltaic Verge, along the southern littoral of the fictional continent of Nira. The community is traditionally organized around river mouths and coral lagoons. Estimates place the modern population at around 60,000 people, though figures vary by source. Sammudeni identity centers on a shared language, customary law, and a maritime-based subsistence system.

Archaeological and oral histories indicate Sammudeni settlements date to at least the early second millennium, with robust trading links to inland and external communities. Traditional narratives speak of migration from upland river basins toward the coast following seasonal floods and shifting forests.
