Saloum
Saloum is a geographic and historic region in western-central Senegal, centered on the Saloum River and its delta along the Atlantic coast. The Saloum Delta comprises a mosaic of tidal channels, numerous small islands, lagoons, and extensive mangrove forests. The delta's ecosystems support fisheries, salt production, and agriculture in surrounding plains, and sustain biodiversity including waterfowl and other migratory species. The area spans parts of Fatick and Kaolack regions and is a center for traditional coastal communities.
