Sagnactyypin

Sagnactyypin is a coastal city-state and the principal urban center of the Sagna Archipelago, a fictional maritime region in the world of Khaera. Located on the southern shore of Vastmire Bay, the city serves as the political, economic, and cultural capital for around 118,000 residents. It functions as a hub for shipping, fisheries, and research, balancing traditional crafts with modern industries.

The name Sagnactyypin combines Sagnic roots associated with the sea and seafaring and the suffix -in, signaling a place of “model” or “type” in local toponymy. The term reflects the city’s historical identity as a reference point for maritime communities in the archipelago.

Its landscape includes a natural harbor, terraced hills, and a central river valley. The temperate maritime climate features mild winters, cool summers, and about 800 millimeters of annual rainfall, creating favorable conditions for harbor-intensive industries and urban green spaces.

Founded by medieval Sagnic guilds, Sagnactyypin rose as a trading port and fortress, later joining the Sagna Confederation in the 17th century. Today the city operates as a constitutional city-state with an elected mayor and council. The economy centers on port activities, shipbuilding, seafood processing, and growing seaweed agriculture, supplemented by tourism and services.

Culture centers on the annual Lumina Lantern Festival and maritime museums. The city preserves historic quarters around the Citadel of Tide and the Mooring Bridge, while the Sea Glass Market offers crafts and seafood. The Oceanic Institute conducts marine research and public education.
