Sabiedriskais

Sabiedriskais is a Latvian adjective that means “public” or “societal.” It is derived from the noun sabiedrība, which translates as “society” or “community.” The term is used to describe objects, services, or institutions that belong to or serve the general population rather than to private individuals or groups. Common contexts include public utilities, public transportation, public institutions, and public policy. For example, a sabiedriskais transport means public transport, while a sabiedriskais service refers to a service that is funded and managed by the state or collective municipal bodies.

In legal and administrative language, sabiedriskais is paired with other adjectives that denote ownership or stewardship, such as privāts (private) or komerciāls (commercial).
