SSObersturmbannführer
SSObersturmbannführer was a rank in the Schutzstaffel (SS) of Nazi Germany. It was a mid-ranking officer grade, equivalent to a lieutenant colonel in other armies. The rank was established in 1933. Holders of this rank often commanded battalion-sized units within the SS, or held significant staff positions within SS administrative or combat formations. The rank insignia consisted of three silver pips on a dark green collar tab, in addition to the SS standard runes on the other collar tab. This rank was held by officers in various branches of the SS, including the Allgemeine-SS (General SS) and the Waffen-SS (Armed SS). Individuals who achieved the rank of SSObersturmbannführer were integral to the operational and administrative structure of the SS during the Nazi era.
