SPKLF
The SPKLF, or the Socialist Party of Kerala (Left), is a communist political party in Kerala, India. It was founded in 1990 by Pinarayi Vijayan, who later became the Chief Minister of Kerala. The party is a member of the Left Democratic Front, a coalition of communist and socialist parties in Kerala. The SPKLF's ideology is based on Marxism-Leninism, and it advocates for the establishment of a socialist society in India. The party has a strong presence in Kerala's urban areas, particularly in the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. It has also won several local body elections in the state. The SPKLF is known for its focus on social justice, economic equality, and democratic rights. It has been a significant player in Kerala's political landscape, often challenging the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist). Despite its influence, the SPKLF has faced criticism for its alleged ties to the Maoist movement and its alleged role in the 2004 Godhra train burning incident. The party's leadership has also been criticized for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kerala.
