Sixty-six is a card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The objective of the game is to be the first player to reach a score of sixty-six points. Players score points by taking tricks, making melds, and capturing cards. The game is typically played by two or four players, in two partnerships.

The game begins with the dealer dealing nine cards to each player. The trump suit is determined by turning over the top card of the remaining deck. The player to the dealer's left can then take the trump card if they wish, or pass. If they pass, the dealer can take it, or the trump suit remains as determined by the turned card.

Points are scored for specific combinations of cards in a player's hand, known as melds. The most valuable melds are four of a kind (e.g., four Kings), followed by sequences of three or more cards in the same suit (e.g., 7, 8, 9 of Spades). Points are also awarded for capturing tricks, with certain cards worth more than others. For example, Aces are worth 11 points and Tens are worth 10 points.

The game involves strategic play, including deciding when to play a trump, when to meld, and when to capture opponent's cards. Players must also manage their hand to avoid running out of playable cards. A key element is the "closing" of the game, where a player can declare they are closing the game when their score, plus the value of cards in their hand, can reach or exceed 66 points. This can put pressure on the opposing team to score enough points to prevent the closing player from winning.
