SIGMOD

SIGMOD stands for Special Interest Group on Management of Data. It is one of the ACM's Special Interest Groups and focuses on database systems and data management, including data modeling, query processing, storage and indexing, transactions, distributed databases, data integration, and data analytics.

The group is best known for organizing the annual ACM SIGMOD Conference, a premier venue for presenting new research in database systems. The conference features technical papers, invited talks, tutorials, demonstrations, and poster sessions, and attracts researchers and practitioners from academia and industry worldwide. SIGMOD also publishes the SIGMOD Record, a quarterly newsletter that reports on conference news, field developments, and community activities, and it maintains ties with ACM's flagship journals such as ACM Transactions on Database Systems (TODS).

SIGMOD supports a range of initiatives to advance the field, including governance by elected officers and committees, community outreach, and awards recognizing contributions to database research and practice. The SIGMOD community participates in education, standards discussions, and collaboration with industry on data management challenges, including big data, cloud databases, and data science.
