It follows the Stargate Command (SGC) at the Cheyenne Mountain complex as they develop and operate the Stargate to travel to other worlds. The main team SG-1 consists of Colonel Jack O'Neill, Dr. Daniel Jackson, Captain Samantha Carter, and Teal'c, a Jaffa warrior who defects from the Goa'uld. Over the series, the lineup changes with Daniel briefly replaced by Jonas Quinn for a period and later additions including Cameron Mitchell and Vala Mal Doran.
