SCRjärjestelmää
SCRjärjestelmä refers to a Selective Catalytic Reduction system, a technology used to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from internal combustion engines, particularly diesel engines. The system injects a urea-based solution, commonly known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), into the exhaust stream. This DEF then reacts with NOx in the presence of a catalyst, converting it into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. SCR systems are a crucial component in modern emissions control strategies for vehicles and industrial applications, helping to meet stringent environmental regulations. The process typically involves a DEF tank, a dosing unit, a mixer, and the SCR catalyst itself. The urea solution decomposes into ammonia when heated, and it is this ammonia that facilitates the chemical reduction of NOx. The effectiveness of the SCRjärjestelmä is dependent on factors such as exhaust temperature, DEF quality, and the proper functioning of all system components. Modern vehicles equipped with SCRjärjestelmä often have an indicator on the dashboard to inform the driver about the DEF level and when refilling is necessary.
