SARSrelated refers to a spectrum of illnesses and conditions associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and its causal agent, the SARS-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV). SARS itself is a respiratory illness that emerged in 2002 and spread globally in 2003, causing significant concern due to its high transmissibility and mortality rate.
