Süsteemikettal
Süsteemikettal is a term used in Estonian to refer to the system disk or boot disk of a computer. It is the primary storage device from which the operating system is loaded when the computer starts up. Typically, this is a hard disk drive (HDD) or a solid-state drive (SSD). The system disk contains not only the operating system files but also essential drivers, system configurations, and other critical data required for the computer to function. In a typical setup, the operating system is installed on a dedicated partition of the system disk. When the computer is powered on, the BIOS or UEFI firmware searches for a bootable operating system on the designated system disk. Once found, it loads the operating system's bootloader, which then takes over the process of loading the rest of the operating system into memory. In some cases, especially in older systems or specialized environments, a system disk could also refer to a floppy disk or a CD-ROM used for booting. The performance and health of the süsteemikettal significantly impact the overall speed and stability of the computer.
