Rõhuvahetus

Rõhuvahetus, also known as pressure exchange, is a thermodynamic process where a fluid at a higher pressure is used to transfer energy to a fluid at a lower pressure, thereby increasing the pressure of the lower-pressure fluid without significant work input. This process is commonly employed in refrigeration and cryogenics.

The fundamental principle behind rõhuvahetus relies on the conservation of energy and momentum. Typically, a high-pressure stream and a low-pressure stream are brought into close proximity, often through a specialized heat exchanger or a throttling device. As the high-pressure fluid expands and does work on the low-pressure fluid, its own pressure decreases while the low-pressure fluid's pressure increases. This transfer of energy can be achieved through various mechanisms, including direct mixing or indirect heat transfer coupled with expansion.

In practical applications, rõhuvahetus is a key component in achieving higher efficiencies in thermodynamic cycles. For example, in certain refrigeration systems, it can reduce the work required by the compressor, leading to energy savings.
