Rágcsálókat

Rágcsálókat is the Hungarian word for rodents. Rodents are mammals belonging to the order Rodentia. They are characterized by a single pair of continuously growing incisors in each of the upper and lower jaws, which are kept short by gnawing. This order is the largest order of mammals, comprising over 40% of mammal species. Rodents are found on all continents except Antarctica.

Common examples of rodents include mice, rats, squirrels, chipmunks, beavers, porcupines, and guinea pigs. Their diet varies widely, with many species being herbivores, but some are omnivores or even carnivores. Rodents play crucial roles in ecosystems, serving as prey for many animals and as seed dispersers.

In human contexts, rodents can be both beneficial and problematic. Some are kept as pets, such as hamsters and gerbils. Others are used in scientific research. However, certain rodent species can be considered pests due to their ability to damage crops, structures, and spread diseases. Controlling rodent populations is often a concern in agriculture and urban environments. Their adaptability and reproductive rates contribute to their widespread success as a group.
