Rác

Rác is a Vietnamese noun that denotes waste or garbage—materials discarded because they are no longer needed or usable. It is used in everyday language as well as in formal contexts such as environmental policy and waste management. Common compounds include rác thải (waste), rác sinh hoạt (domestic waste), and rác công nghiệp (industrial waste).

Rác is typically classified by source and composition. Source-based categories include rác sinh hoạt (household waste), rác công nghiệp (industrial waste), and rác y tế (medical waste). By composition, distinctions are often made between rác hữu cơ (organic waste) and rác vô cơ (inorganic waste), as well as between rác tái chế (recyclable) and non-recyclable fractions. Hazardous waste, or rác có nguy hại, requires special handling and treatment due to health and environmental risks.
