Rullelister

Rullelister, also known as roller skates or inline skates, are footwear with wheels attached to the bottom, designed for gliding over smooth surfaces. The term "rullelister" is Norwegian for "roller skates," and it encompasses both traditional quad skates and modern inline skates.

The history of roller skates dates back to the 18th century, with early designs resembling inline skates. These early versions were made of wooden platforms with metal wheels. In the 19th century, quad skates, which have two pairs of wheels arranged in a square pattern, became popular. These were the dominant type of roller skates until the late 20th century when inline skates saw a resurgence in popularity.

Inline skates, also known as rollerblades, feature a single line of wheels, typically three to five, arranged in a straight line. This design allows for greater speed and maneuverability compared to quad skates. Inline skates gained widespread popularity in the 1980s and 1990s, thanks in part to the rise of aggressive inline skating and roller hockey.

Rullelister are used for various activities, including recreational skating, fitness, and competitive sports. They are also used in artistic disciplines such as roller derby and jam skating. Safety gear, including helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards, is recommended to prevent injuries while skating.
