Ruili

Ruili is a county-level city in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. It lies in the western part of Yunnan, on the banks of the Ruili River, which forms part of the border with Myanmar.

Ruili functions as a significant border town and commercial gateway between China and Myanmar. The Ruili–Muse border crossing links the two countries and underpins a substantial volume of cross-border trade. The local economy is anchored in cross-border trade, logistics, agriculture, and light industry, with services catering to travelers and traders.

The population comprises multiple ethnic groups, with the Dai and Jingpo as the largest communities, alongside Han, Lisu, and others. The cultural landscape is diverse, and languages spoken reflect this mix, with Mandarin as the official language and minority languages in daily use.

Transport and connectivity include road networks linking Ruili with other parts of Yunnan and with Myanmar. The border market and associated logistics facilities are central to daily life and economic activity.

Historically, Ruili has long served as a trading post on routes between China and Southeast Asia, and in modern times it has developed as a key border economy within Dehong Prefecture.
