Rotras

Rotras is a fictional planet located in the Kepler-186 system, approximately 500 light-years from Earth. It is the outermost planet in its star system, orbiting Kepler-186f. Rotras is a terrestrial planet, meaning it is composed primarily of silicate rocks and metals. Initial spectral analysis suggests a rocky composition with a significant amount of iron.

The planet's atmosphere is believed to be thin, with a composition dominated by nitrogen and trace amounts of methane. This atmospheric composition results in a relatively cold surface temperature, estimated to be around -50 degrees Celsius on average. Rotras possesses a single, large moon, which has been designated Kepler-186f-M1. The moon is thought to be tidally locked with Rotras, always presenting the same face.

Due to its distance from its star, Kepler-186, which is a red dwarf, Rotras receives considerably less light and heat than planets closer to the star. This makes the prospect of liquid water on the surface unlikely, although subsurface oceans cannot be entirely ruled out given potential geothermal activity. Further observational data is required to ascertain the presence of any geological features or potential for past or present life. The exploration of Rotras remains a long-term objective for astrobiology and planetary science missions.
