Ronicya

Ronicya is a small municipality located in the northeastern region of the fictional country of Arborale. It occupies an area of approximately 42 square kilometres and sits at an elevation of 1,280 metres above sea level, overlooking the Roni River canyon. The settlement was founded in the late 18th century by settlers from the neighboring province of Maltha, who established a modest agricultural community centred on potato and maize cultivation. During the 19th century Ronicya became known as a waypoint for traders travelling between the coastal towns and the central highlands, thanks to its position at the junction of the Nara–Mirtha and the limestone ridge routes.

The population of Ronicya is estimated at 3,200 residents, according to the most recent census of 2021. The demographic composition is predominantly indigenous with a small minority of Spanish descent. Spanish is the primary language, though many inhabitants also speak the traditional Auguran dialect. The municipal economy remains largely agrarian, with a growing emphasis on artisanal pottery and small-scale textile production. In recent years a modest eco‑tourism sector has been developing, focusing on guided hikes through the surrounding alpine meadows and cultural exchanges with local folk groups.

Ronicya is governed by a mayor and municipal council elected at four‑year intervals. The town is served by a primary health clinic and a secondary school that offers instruction up to the eighth grade. Public transport links include a daily bus service to the regional capital, Taverax, and a seasonal service to the tourist resort town of Lyntor. Local festivals include the annual harvest celebration, the Fiesta de la Cumbre, held in October in honour of the town’s patron saint, Saint Phelix.
