Roclatan

Roclatan is a prescription ophthalmic solution that combines netarsudil and latanoprost to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The fixed-dose formulation contains netarsudil 0.02% and latanoprost 0.005% per drop.

Netarsudil is a Rho kinase inhibitor that lowers IOP by increasing aqueous humor outflow through the trabecular meshwork and by reducing episcleral venous pressure; latanoprost is a prostaglandin F2α analog that increases uveoscleral outflow. Together they provide an additive IOP-lowering effect with a once-daily dosing regimen, generally administered in the evening.

The product is intended for patients who require additional IOP lowering beyond their current therapy or for those who need to initiate therapy with a potent combination. Dosing is one drop in the affected eye once daily in the evening; if both eyes are treated, administer to each eye once daily. Before instillation, remove contact lenses if present and reinsert after at least 15 minutes.

Common adverse effects include conjunctival hyperemia (red eye), conjunctival irritation, corneal edema, and corneal verticillata. Other possible effects include eye pain, eyelash changes, and iris pigmentation changes with long-term latanoprost exposure. Roclatan should be used with caution in patients with active intraocular inflammation or infection and in those with a history of hypersensitivity to any component. It is a prescription-only medication and should be used under the guidance of an eye care professional.
