Ridedata is generated by ride-hailing platforms, taxi companies, transit operators, bike- and scooter-share programs, and amusement parks. Depending on the source, datasets may contain GPS coordinates, vehicle identifiers, driver or vehicle IDs, and anonymized rider information. Many datasets distinguish raw or granular data from aggregated or processed forms used for analysis.

Applications include demand forecasting, traffic and network modeling, service planning, accessibility analysis, safety and incident research, and academic studies of urban mobility.
