Respirações refers to the act of breathing, a fundamental biological process essential for life. In humans and most animals, breathing involves the intake of oxygen and the expulsion of carbon dioxide. This exchange of gases occurs primarily in the lungs through a series of coordinated movements of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles, leading to inhalation and exhalation. The oxygen absorbed into the bloodstream is transported to cells throughout the body, where it is used in cellular respiration to produce energy. Carbon dioxide, a waste product of this process, is then carried back to the lungs to be exhaled.
