Reservistit

Reservistit refers to the reserve forces of the Finnish Defence Forces. Finland maintains a large and well-trained reserve as a cornerstone of its national defense strategy. The reserve consists of all male citizens who have completed their compulsory military service, as well as voluntary female service members. This system allows Finland to rapidly mobilize a substantial fighting force in times of crisis.

Training for reservists is ongoing. They are called up for refresher courses and exercises periodically to maintain their skills and readiness. These exercises often involve units that would serve together in wartime, fostering cohesion and operational effectiveness. The reserve is organized into territorial defense units, rapid reaction forces, and specialized units.

It is seen as a cost-effective and highly efficient way to ensure national security. The reservist association, Reserviläisliitto, plays a significant role in supporting reservists, promoting national defense awareness, and organizing training and social activities. Participation in reserve service is generally viewed as a civic duty and a vital contribution to Finland's security.
