Reperfusioa
Reperfusion refers to the restoration of blood flow to an organ or tissue that has been deprived of oxygen and nutrients due to ischemia. This can occur naturally through the body's own mechanisms or be intentionally induced through medical interventions. Ischemia, the lack of adequate blood supply, can lead to cell damage and death. Reperfusion, while often necessary to save tissue, can paradoxically cause further injury known as reperfusion injury.
Reperfusion injury is a complex process that can arise when blood flow is returned to ischemic tissues.
Medical interventions aimed at achieving reperfusion are crucial in treating conditions like myocardial infarction (heart attack)
