Rengetegféle

Rengetegféle is a Hungarian term meaning "varied" or "diverse" but specifically refers to an art and literature movement in Hungary that emerged in the 19th century. The name is derived from the word "rengeteg," meaning "much" or "many," and "féle," meaning "kind" or "type," implying a collection or gathering of many different kinds or types.

The movement began in the 1860s and 1870s, primarily among Hungarian writers and artists who sought to create a diverse and inclusive cultural scene. Rengetegféle artists and writers sought to break away from traditional and Romanticist conventions and explore new forms of expression. They drew inspiration from a range of sources, including folk art, Eastern European and Oriental art, as well as Western European art movements such as Impressionism and Realism.

Characteristics of the rengetegféle movement include a focus on the everyday, the mundane, and the local.
