Releaseis

Releaseis is a small municipality located in the northern part of the country of Iberia, situated within the administrative district of Valverde. The town lies in a valley created by the river Maris, surrounded by gentle hills that rise to the Serra Verde mountain range. The municipality covers an area of approximately 42 square kilometres and sits at an elevation of 210 metres above sea level. Despite its modest size, Releaseis is known for its rural charm and its strong agricultural tradition, with the cultivation of olives, grapes, and wheat forming the backbone of the local economy. The fertile soil and temperate climate have made the area a desirable location for sustainable farming initiatives.

Historical records indicate that the area around Releaseis was first settled by agrarian communities during the late Bronze Age, and archeological finds at the nearby hill site of Monte Roca suggest a continuous occupation through the Roman and medieval periods. The present municipal boundaries were established in the year 1967, during a nationwide reorganisation that consolidated several smaller villages. In contemporary times, Releaseis serves as a local hub for the surrounding villages, providing essential services such as primary education, a health centre, and a weekly market that showcases regional produce. Public transport links include a regional bus line that connects Releaseis with the provincial capital, while the nearest railway station is located in the city of Valverde, about forty kilometres away.
