Regionstyrelsen is a Swedish term that translates to "regional executive board" or "county council board." It is the primary administrative and political body responsible for the governance and management of a Swedish region. Sweden is divided into 21 administrative regions, and each region has a regionstyrelse. The primary responsibilities of a regionstyrelse include healthcare, public transportation, and cultural development within its geographical area. They are responsible for planning, financing, and operating these services.

The members of the regionstyrelse are elected representatives from the political parties within the region. Elections for regional councils, which then appoint the regionstyrelse, are held concurrently with national and municipal elections. The regionstyrelse operates under the framework of national legislation and regional policy objectives. Its decisions are binding for the region's administration and service providers. The executive board is led by a chairman and comprises representatives from various political parties proportional to their representation in the regional council.
