Regeldifferenz

Regeldifferenz refers to the deviation between a desired setpoint and the actual measured value within a control loop. In many technical systems, such as industrial processes, building automation, or automotive systems, a controller aims to maintain a specific variable, like temperature or speed, at a target value. This target value is known as the setpoint. The system continuously measures the current state of the variable using sensors. The difference between the setpoint and the measured value is the regeldifferenz, or control deviation.

This difference is a crucial piece of information for the controller. Based on the magnitude and sign of the regeldifferenz, the controller calculates and applies corrective actions to the system. For instance, if the temperature in a room is lower than the setpoint, there is a positive regeldifferenz, and the controller might activate a heating element to increase the temperature. Conversely, a negative regeldifferenz, where the measured value exceeds the setpoint, might trigger a cooling mechanism.

The goal of an effective control system is to minimize the regeldifferenz and keep it as close to zero as possible. However, in real-world applications, achieving a zero regeldifferenz instantaneously is often not feasible due to factors like system inertia, external disturbances, and sensor inaccuracies. Therefore, control systems are designed to reduce this deviation efficiently and maintain stability. The analysis of regeldifferenz is fundamental in tuning control loops to achieve optimal performance.
