Refraktionsfehler, also known as refractive errors, are vision problems that occur when the eye does not properly focus light onto the retina. This can result in blurred or distorted vision. The most common types of refractive errors include myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.

Myopia occurs when the eye is too long or the cornea is too curved, causing light to focus in front of the retina rather than directly on it. This results in difficulty seeing distant objects clearly. Hyperopia, on the other hand, happens when the eye is too short, leading to light focusing behind the retina. This makes it difficult to see close objects clearly. Astigmatism occurs when the cornea or lens has an irregular curvature, causing light to focus at more than one point on the retina. This can result in distorted or blurred vision.

Refraktionsfehler can be corrected using various methods, including glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. Regular eye exams are essential for early detection and management of refractive errors, ensuring optimal vision and eye health.
